transcosmos inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo; President and COO: Masataka Okuda; Securities code: 9715; hereafter, transcosmos) has formed a partnership with GREE, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato Ward, Tokyo; President: Yoshikazu Tanaka; hereafter, GREE) to perform multiple terminal validation work for social applications. Terminal validation work will be provided for GREE’s development partners (hereafter, GREE partners) during development of social applications.

In order for GREE to further promote overseas development, the purpose of the current partnership is to arrange an environment in which it is possible for domestic and international GREE partners to promptly provide applications for “GREE” and its affiliated services, as part of the collaboration with service providers who have extensive domestic and international achievements and know-how in social application localization (translation, reflection of regional characteristics, etc.), debugging and multiple terminal validation (*). transcosmos will collaborate in the validation work using actual mobile terminal devices, to provide speedy high quality service for GREE partners in the future.

Including Smartphones, there are currently about 900 different mobile terminal models in existence, and since the specifications for each carrier and model are different, it is necessary to consider each of these specifications when developing mobile contents and to respond to these model characteristics, which are referred to as machine dependence. (* According to transcosmos’ actual measured values, problems such as bugs and machine dependence errors are found in over 80% of the validated models.) At transcosmos, we not only check for this kind of machine dependence error (non-display of image, character corruption, layout breakdown, character discontinuity, etc.), but also provide operation verification for applications and games, etc., and utilize these capabilities to contribute to quality improvement for applications developed by GREE partners.

In addition, we are building a flexible provision framework, which makes it possible to provide services with both off-site and on-site systems. In the case of off-site services, we perform actual device validation at our transcosmos “Mobile Validation Center”. Furthermore, we provide services on-site for companies that cannot allow contents to go outside their facilities. When large-scale validation or urgent issues arise, it is possible to respond with measures such as adding the personnel required for validation or smoothly coordinating with the mobile validation center.
